MEDICAL REHABILITATION COURSES (PRELIMINARY LEVEL)

The course will cover legal and ethical issues surrounding written and verbal informed consent. Policies about obtaining informed consent, interviewing patients and explanations to patients/family about risks and benefits of assessments and interventions will also be covered.

This course will focus on management of information. This will include policies and procedures for collection, storage and access to the information. Documenting, organizing and filing of information will also be addressed.

This course will cover data collection during patient assessment, outcome measures, impact of health/personal/environmental analysis relevant to scope of practice, methods of scoring standardized assessments relevant to scope of practice and interpretatio of assessment results for purpose of diagnosis.

This course will cover principles of adult learning, potential barriers to learning and development, responsibilities/obligations as a teacher/supervisor, teaching/supervision techniques, modes of education and resources/technologies to support teaching/learning. 

This course will cover responsibilities/performance standards for health workers, levels of monitoring/supervision/delegation/accountability, strategies for team communication/coordination, allocating tasks, delegating responsibilities and scheduling appointments.

This course will cover epidemiological/demographic trends driving rehabilitation need, safe working conditions, principles of inclusive design, human resource managment, resource requirements for delivering services, mobilizing resources, managing service budget, procuring resources, maintaining inventories and invoicing.

This course will cover service delivery indicators, service performance indicators, applying/interpreting/reporting service performance measures, service data collection/aggregation, health information system, engaging rehabilitation service users in service evaluation and coordinating service audits.

This course will cover ethical standards for research, sources of conflicts of interest, potential research grants, qualitative/quantitative study designs, types of research bias, inferential/descriptive statistics, constructing research proposals, collecting/analysing data and conclusions from data.
